It’s often the case that golfers will tend to blame their clubs, or at least crave the latest technology, in order to improve their golf swing. While having some new clubs might feel good, especially if they promise great results, it’s probably not a good place to start. Of course, if your clubs are badly fitted, you’ll need to address this, otherwise you should be looking at the other elements of your swing.

There are several core areas of your swing which you should consider as a starting point. You will need to take a look at your grip, your stance and your address, in the first instance, if you want to improve your golf swing. While all this may seem rather simple, there is plenty to consider.

There are a number of different grips you can choose from. A variation of the interlocking grip works for most people. Finding the right variation can take some time, as it can feel a little strange to begin with, but it’s clearly something that will become more comfortable as you practice. Practice is always going to be key, when you look to improve a golf swing.

Getting the right stance can make all the difference, when it comes to setting yourself up for a good shot. At its most basic, you can many avoid golf swing issues by ensuring you have a relaxed stance. If you tense up at any point in your body, it’s going to affect your swing, meaning the ball doesn’t end up where you wanted it!

Having a relaxed and fluid motion of ball address is also important. Any tension or hesitancy can ruin your address. Having a good pre-shot routine can help to ensure that you are sufficiently relaxed to hit the ball in a smooth manner. Keep your head down as you swing, but allow your head to move with the swing, in a natural motion, and you’ll soon find your own sweet spot!
